The concept behind this image was to illustrate computer technology that does not yet exist. Using special goggles, information is transmitted and displayed in 3D space. It's sort of like the virtual first down lines you see watching a football game on television.
This image was built from several layers. Tombstones came from one cemetery while the engraved facades came from a bunch of other shots from another. The people were shot in a studio, and the client provided the info boxes as b&w illustrator art.
I was inspired by the original call for help Princess Leah left for Obi-Wan in the first Star Wars. Okay episode IV. Sure that movie came out when I was just seven years old, but I'm still fascinated by the special effects.
